The first sunglasses ever created by humans

Our Italian hand-made Inuit Goggles are a contemporary homage to the first pair of sunglasses ever created by humans.

Crafted with the spirit of innovation, these goggles are a modern interpretation of the ancient Inuit eyewear known as ilgaak (ᐃᓪᒑᒃ) in Inuktitut and Nigaugek in Central Yupik, used for centuries by the indigenous peoples of the Arctic to protect against the blinding glare of the sun on snow.

The Inuit Goggles Project

Inspired by the enduring legacy of the Arctic's indigenous cultures, the Inuit Goggles Project celebrates the innovative design and cultural significance of traditional Inuit eyewear.

Originating from a need to protect against the harsh glare of snow and ice, these goggles have been crafted for centuries using natural materials, embodying resilience and adaptation.

Our project aims to bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and contemporary fashion, bringing the spirit and stories of the Inuit people to a global audience through our meticulously designed sunglasses.

How They Come To Birth

The Inuit Goggles are first 3D printed using Eco PLA, an eco-friendly and biodegradable material. They are then handcrafted by Italian artisans who carve, refine, and add the final touches, giving them a unique and high-quality artisanal finish.
